The might of Chiang Mai Lanna CC gathered at Gymkhana to provide some valuable practice for the Lamphun U-19 provincial teams who were preparing to go to Sri Saket for the National Youth Games. It was decided to play two 15-over matches so the juniors could play the format they would be facing in the Sports Authority of Thailand competition and the first match saw Lanna take on the strongest junior side with the girls watching on.

The seniors batted first and the loss of two early wickets only brought Martin Cardno to the crease and he raced to 40 before retiring in a total of 107 for 3. The boys bowled well with Cher, Leng and Boom picking up wickets and Chanchai being the most economical as he bowled his 3 overs for 12 runs.

The juniors had a definite chance of victory as Bunchuai and Chanchai made a confident start as the score reached 48 in only 5 overs. Wani’s run out of Chanchai with a direct hit for 27 and Jason Bray’s stumping of Bunchuai off Martin Papworth for 22 proved crucial even though only 40 more runs were needed with eight wickets and seven overs left.

Boom showed he had a good defence and Cher hit lustily but wickets fell quickly as Wani finished with figures of 5 for 7 as the Juniors were bowled out for 95. Wani took 3 wickets in the final over of the match as the Seniors won by 12 runs.
