Lanna triumphant on the beach in Koh Chang

Lanna Cricket Club travelled down from Chiang Mai to Koh Chang with a party of 20 people for a weekend of fun in the sun as they took part in the third Koh Chang Beach Cricket Competition. Eddie Joyner captained the first team to victory with five wins out of five but it was the Thai juniors who caught the eye as Chaiwut Mayer won player of the tournament for the second year in a row and Pin Papworth was delighted to be named bowler of the tournament as she won a bowl-off for the Parrots when she was the only player to hit the stumps. Father Martin was delighted as he had won yet another trophy and all the event organizers and participating teams were very supportive of the work done in Chiang Mai for junior cricket. Thanks go to the Chiang Mai Sixes, Martin Peters at Lanna Rehab (who also provided shirts for the whole party) and to Steve Perry at Koh Chang Beach Cricket Club for contributing to the costs of junior cricketers. Lanna’s first team was an impressive unit with Eddie, Chaiwut, Elliot Lodge, Matt Bray, Jon Scales and Jack Campbell all experienced Sixes players, and it may even have been a greater achievement that Lanna’s B team made up of three girls, two juniors and three better suited to watching cricket competed strongly and even won a match.
