Lanna Juniors
won by 8 wickets

A busy weekend on and off the field was completed at Gymkhana as the Lanna friendly was staged as a Juniors against Seniors (or Thais against Farangs) match and it was the Thai youngsters who came out on top as Jun’s quickfire fifty saw Lanna Juniors to victory by eight wickets.

Lanna Seniors batted first and Jigar again impressed with the bat as he reached his first 50 as he took advantage of anything short. Alex played his second match of the day, but Elliot struggled for his timing and Shaffi hit 24 in a total of 131 for 4 in 20 overs.

Jun was in imperious form with the bat as he raced to his fifty from 28 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes but his early retirement left the chase in the hands of Field and Do, part of the new generation of Lamphun cricketers who recently played in the National Championship and they both batted sensibly, Ffield making 18 from 42 balls and Do hitting two valuable boundaries.

It was fitting that it was left to captain Cher to see his side home as he hit a six in his innings of 10 not out and it was good to see that even without Bunchuai, Chanchai and Champ all training in Bangkok that the rest of Lanna’s junior squad could still put the adults in their place.
