Lanna 152/9

Richard Cowles 30, Jon Scales 29, Russell Ward 22*, Ismail 2/4, Suhail 2/11, Shaffi 2/18

CMCC
won by 43 runs

CMCC made it three wins out of three in the Chiang Mai Senior League with another convincing all-round performance but the later stages of a sunday afternoon encounter at Gymkhana Club were enlivened by a unbroken tenth wicket partnership of 55 between Russell Ward and Jon Danby as Russ made a fluent 22* and JD a dogged 8* and CMCC joined in the fun by contributing a large proportion of extras to take the stand past the fifty mark.

Lanna’s last pair had managed to bat out the 30 overs on 152 for 9 but CMCC were still victorious by the comfortable margin of 43 runs. CMCC made a useful total of 195 as Ubaid scored 33 and Tanvir and Ismail both made 38 although Ward ran through the tail to end with figures of 4 for 39 as he left for Australia on a high.

Lanna would have had hopes of chasing down the target and were briefly on course thanks to a fast start from Richard Cowles but Ismail rolled back the years to take 2 for 4 from his 6 overs with 4 maidens and Suhail and Shaffi also took two wickets apiece.

John Scales hit 29 and it was left to Lanna’s last pair to provide the best entertainment of the day but CMCC are still unbeaten in all cricket in the 2016/17 season.
