CMCC continued their impressive start to the season as they beat Lanna by 50 runs at Gymkhana Club the day after Lanna Thais had secured the 2015/16 league title. A junior match had been played on the Sunday morning between players from Chiang Mai and Lamphun and those involved had enjoyed posing for photographs with the league trophy.

CMCC have set their sights on winning the same trophy in 2016/17 and put out another strong side as JD found to his cost as his first over went for 21 before Jun took a catch to dismiss Sami and then bowled Hanif with his first ball as CMCC were rocked back to 36 for 2 after 3.1 overs.

Tanvir and Ismail shared a partnership of 66 and Basharat made a quickfire 29 before Choo and Yod enjoyed some time at the crease to take the score abover 200. Chairman Tom disposed of the tail, dismissing numbers 10, 11 and 12 to finish with three wickets as Captain Pete timed his introduction to perfection.

CMCC were bowled out for 2014 inside 25 overs after an action packed innings and Lanna had a stiff task on their hands and Hugh Williams fell early for a first ball duck. Richard Young and Jun added 57 for the second wicket but Chris Coombes was run out for nought and as 59 for 1 soon became 65 for 4.

Chanchai made the most of a rare appearance for Lanna before he goes off to play regularly in Bangkok as he top scored with 42 as he hit 6 fours and a six before also being run out and Adrian celebrated his return to Chiang Mai by making 14. Russell and Tom saw out the innings as Lanna finished on 154 for 9 as CMCC celebrated victory by 50 runs.
