Busy weekend ended by rain

CMCC 196/5

Amar 20, Sami 40, Aasif 25, Tanvir 65, Jun 3/37

Lanna 0/0

Match abandoned

Having hosted a touring team from Malaysia on the Saturday and the Teachers v Parents match on Sunday morning a busy weekend for Lanna was completed by a friendly against CMCC. Rain swept in at 3 o'clock to end the contest just before the first innings had been completed but CMCC had time to make 196 for 5 from 24 overs.

Openers Amar and Sami added 62 before being dismissed in quick succession as Lanna’s opening bowlers were rewarded for their persistence. Jun took a wicket first ball and later dismissed the dangerous Aasif as Lanna came back strongly but Matt Bray had gone to hospital for sitches after he had split the webbing in his hand as paid the price for dropping a catch.

Locky had to fill the vacuum himself and kept Burhan and Tanvir in check for a whilte before 58 runs came in the last five overs before rain intervened. Tanvir made 65 from 37 balls and Jun finished with 3 for 37 as CMCC reached 196 for 5.

The forecast was bleak for later in the afternoon as the Gymkhana outfield enjoyed the rain which had been absent for so long and the match was soon called off with CMCC delighted at their batting display but with Lanna confident they could have successfully chased their target.

We shall never know.....
